This piece is called 'Eddy', and it's by Mia Perlman.
It's being shown at an exhibition in the NY Museum of Art and Design's newest exhibition, "Slash: Paper Under the Knife", if you're lucky enough to be there. I'm not, sadly, but anyway....
The exhibition's dedicated to all the surprising ways artists are using paper today, and there are some beautiful works. The featured artists have used paper itself as a medium, whether by cutting, tearing, burning, or shredding. In all, it features 50 artists and a dozen installations made just for the show.
